Some ‘serious’ winter activities are on offer during Walks Worldwide’s Lapland Snow Adventure which takes travellers way ‘up North’ to the 'true Lapland' and the beautiful region of Enontekio, Finland. Bordering Norway and Sweden, an area of silent mountains and unspoilt wilderness, sacred fells and frozen lakes is the land of the Sami people. This adventurous 8-day holiday departs London 24th February 2007.

With a different activity each day, ALL included in the tour, no one will sit still long enough to feel the cold! Go husky sledding before arriving at cosy wooden cabins, complete with sauna, in Klipisjarvi home for the next few days. Now for the hard part, which activity to partake in first? Try ice-fishing for Arctic Char, Perch and Grayling or cross-country skiing - with no crowded lift queues to contend with, just ‘schuss’ along at your own pace. Head off with an experienced tracker on a Reindeer safari in search of elusive free-roaming herds or take a 4km snow shoe trek to the sacred Saana Fell (1,029m) – lunch from the summit allows time to take in magnificent views. After some thorough driving instruction, enjoy a snowmobile ride to ‘the borderstone’ – the frontier of Finland, Sweden and Norway where you can stand with one leg (and a hand!) in each country. An optional night ride into the nearby fells can be arranged, perhaps a chance to see the Northern Lights or an extended 100km safari (at an extra cost). Accommodation in the tiny village of Kilpisjarvi is a stone’s throw away from Tuula’s famous Finnish café, serving sumptious meals and offering a warm welcome. After a day of adventure, this is the place to unwind and succumb to the soporific effects of a crackling log fire and the local specialities - cloudberry liquor, reindeer meat, hearty soups and freshly caught fish!
