CHILE’S TORRES DEL PAINE
ON HORSE BACK

Equine Adventures offer two fantastic 14-day riding holidays within Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, famous for big skies and open pampas, glaciers, iceberg-filled lakes and gigantic granite monoliths, departures from London between January and March 2007.

Estancia Ride – 14-days, staying in authentic working estancias and wilderness lodges.

Rested up, ready to hit the road and get in the saddle, transfer to Torres del Pain to meet the baqueanos (Chilean horsemen) and horses that will accompany your 8-days of adventure.  Each day explore a new region of the park - ride along lake shores, gallop across open pampas and trek through valleys, canyons and beech forests.  Wherever the location, the famous ‘Torres Towers’, the centrepiece of this geological wonder, are never far away.  After a long day’s ride a local estancia or wilderness lodge including a fine meal and Chilean wine is even more satisfying.

Glacier Ride – 14-days, camping & hotel trip enabling access to remote areas of the park.

Having chosen a sure-footed mount, set off with guides, baqueanos and packhorses to explore the remote areas of the park.  The trip commences in the southern region and heads north, and east through the glaciers of Dickson and Grey, continuing along the Serrano River and Laguna Verde.  A wild herd of Criollo horses is often seen en-route and local farmers commonly invite riders in for a traditional mate, refreshing Patagonian herbal tea.  Two nights are usually spent at each campsite - idyllic settings, occasional showers, hearty meals and fine wines around the campfire bring out the spirit of adventure!

Both tours include international flights, estancia, lodge and tented camp accommodation, most meals, transfers, and guided horse riding.  Suitable for intermediate to experienced riders.
