Wildlife Worldwide - Press Release

DESERT & DELTA
SOUTHERN AFRICA FLY-IN SAFARI WITH
‘BIG CATS’ JONATHAN & ANGIE SCOTT

Join renowned wildlife photographers and Big Cat Diary broadcasters, Jonathan and Angie Scott, and a small group of like-minded enthusiasts on an exclusive 17-day safari in Namibia and Botswana, focussing on some of their favourite wildlife hotspots including Sossusvlei, Damaraland, the Okavango Delta and Moremi.  This is the first in a unique collection of luxury Signature Safaris created in conjunction with wildlife specialist Wildlife Worldwide, departing London 5th June 2007.

Experience the contrast between the dramatic arid landscapes of Namibia and the lush savannah and waterways of the Okavango Delta region in Botswana, two exceptional wildlife regions.  On this trip, Jonathan and Angie want to retain the intimacy of a small group of friends travelling together, with a shared passion for wildlife.  They have handpicked what they consider to be the regions’ top lodges, camps and wildlife locations, utilising private vehicles and planes throughout this luxury safari.  The Namib Desert is the first focus of the tour, where from a base at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, guests can enjoy scenic 4x4 excursions on the NamibRand Nature Reserve, home to a variety of desert animals including Gemsbok, Zebra, Springbok, Bat-eared Fox, Aardwolf, Caracal and Jackal.  A visit to the famous Sossusvlei sand dunes, the highest in the world, and Sesriem Canyon will add to this unforgettable desert safari experience.  Next, Serra Cafema Camp, accessed only by light aircraft, is one of the most remote camps in all of Southern Africa, located in Damaraland in the extreme north-west of Namibia.  Enjoy breathtaking landscapes dotted with Springbok, Ostrich and Oryx, traversing the sand dunes in Land Rovers and boating on the Kunene River, keeping a lookout for the Kunene crocodiles.  The focus then shifts from desert to delta and two very different camp locations in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.  Duba Plains is a remote camp located in a private 30,000-hectare reserve in the furthermost reaches of the Delta.  This pristine area is home to Lion, Lechwe, Elephant and huge herds of Buffalo, as well as a large variety of birdlife.  Jao Camp is situated in a private reserve on a large island to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve, in the heart of the Okavango Delta.  Across the waterway in front of camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah for a wonderful Okavango experience.  Activities at Jao Camp will be more water-based including wildlife spotting by Mokoro (dugout canoe).

The safari costs £8,995 p/p including scheduled flights (BA), all road and light aircraft transfers, fully inclusive luxury safari camp accommodation, all National Park entry fees and expertly guided game viewing activities accompanied by Jonathan and Angie Scott.
