Press Digest 15th January 2007

Good Morning,

Last week's dash to Bristol International could only be described by me and the other 8 pax as groovy (!)  Fog and rain didn't altogether hide the fatal attraction of Clifton Suspension Bridge's plunging curves. And indeed, the 'posh bit' of Bristol has much to recommend it, though these days I'm not best placed to judge as I probably qualify for inclusion on the 'at risk' register through long term exposure to the effects of rural isolation... ah the tall buildings, the lights, running water, so many people all rushing...  Anyhow - thanks Julie et al at Trips Worldwide and Magic of the Orient for a fine lunch.

Tomorrow (in fact today) is the AITO Press Day at The Brewery in east London.  For those who want to say hello, I'll be in residence with a Dragoman Overland badge prominently displayed.  For those who want to avoid me, the same detail applies.  My mobile is 07767 603 145 if you're really keen!

Bill's Taxis (my neighbour Bill!) are picking me up in the morning.  I've printed out my boarding passes to help avoid ques and reduce EasyJ's admin.  As ever they have designated me boarding group C - their way of saying 'If you was  A, it's OK, if you's was B, stick with me, but as you's a C, oh brother... get back, get back, get back, get back.'  My apologies to Big Bill Broonzy...  I can't imagine that any kind of civil rights protest founded on the injustice of boarding priority will find much resonance.  However, I will feel a satisfying degree of schadenfreude when all those clever clever wannabe (this is EasyJet remember) corporate warriors wave their premium 'SpeedyBoarding passes' whilst fumbling with eBay Blackberries and are speedily fast-tracked to a bus... to be hemmed in by the rest of us proles.  Profit is the unpaid labour of the working classes - you bourgeois class traitors, one out all out... and that's just how it will be on this particular low-cost revolution.

Today (15th Jan) being Martin Luther King Day, this week's website of the week is http://wwwwww.martinlutherking.org/-

Best,

Nick

Cost £495

The cybercultural revolution has brought two of mankind’s most necessary resources to within a mouse-click – sex and travel. The latter of these ‘needs’ continues to maintain a good second place on most reliable web statistics above gambling, genealogy and even the weather! Dragoman Overland’s young and vigorous crews of leaders and drivers are doing their best to boost ratings, and can be seen in action, starring with cast of enthusiastic amateurs, on location in South America, Central Asia and the Sahara. The previously unreleased video footage may be short on plot and light on dialogue but is certainly adventurous… So, why not draw the curtains, slip on a few bracelets, some sandals, those trousers bought in Mali and not worn since, and visit the ‘Video Lounge’ at www.dragoman.com for a free sample of overland travel at its best.
