Peregrine Adventures - Press Release

***NEW FOR 2007***
PERU AND THE GALAPAGOS

Peregrine Adventures has combined its Classic Peru Adventure, including the original 4-day Inca Trail, with a 4-night Galapagos Cruise and created a winning 17-day Latin American combination, departing Lima 29th January and 28th May 2007.

Peru is rich in both Inca and Spanish colonial culture, and nowadays its essence can be conquered in just a few days without all the destruction and savagery!  This small group tour sets out from Lima, allowing a day to explore the sprawling capital and its excellent museums.  Just a short flight away, over towering snow-capped Andean peaks, is Cusco, a living cultural treasure house with narrow, cobblestone streets packed with ancient houses, shops and some excellent restaurants.  From here a day is spent exploring the Sacred Valley and Pisac before striking out on the classic 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.  Arriving at the Sun Gate, the spectacular entrance to the lost city, is still an enduringly memorable experience.  Returning by train to Cusco allows a further day to explore before boarding a flight via Lima to Quito and the Galapagos Archipelago.  Arriving on the island of Santa Cruz, visit the Giant Galapagos Tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station before boarding the Peregrine Endeavour for a 4-night wildlife cruise.  First stop is Leon Dormido and the large island of San Cristobel to visit the new interpretation centre and the rugged volcanic peaks of Cerro Brujo.  Next, isolated Espanola home to endemic finches studied by Darwin, Sea Lions and a multitude of lounging Marine Iguanas.  Later, on the buccaneer-hideaway island of Floreana, Post Office Bay is great spot for snorkelling with sea lions and myriad colourful fish.  Returning to Santa Cruz, visit Black Turtle Cove and cruise amongst the mangroves where the lagoon waters are a nursery for many sharks and rays.  The tour concludes with transfer to Baltra and flights to Quito and home.

The tour costs from £2,090 including Lima-Cusco-Lima flights, Quito-Galapagos-Quito flights, hotel, serviced camping and shipboard accommodation, Peregrine tour leader in Peru, local guides, porterage and all meals on Inca Trail together with camping equipment and a Peregrine ‘trek pack’, an experienced English-speaking naturalist on Galapagos cruise, sightseeing and entrance fees.  International flights are not included.
