Peregrine Adventures - Press Release

**NEW FAMILY TOUR**
ANCIENT STEPS OF AMALFI

Try out ‘moon walking’ down a large volcanic ash flow, learn how to make a pizza, walk on little-known medieval trails, meet local people and discover hidden corners within the heart of Amalfi region. Peregrine Adventures has expanded its popular European program to include a NEW Colours of Amalfi 8-day family walking adventure, departing Naples 8th April 2007.

The Amalfi Coast’s jagged peaks and colourful wildflowers growing on dramatic slopes make for one of the world's most beautiful landscapes, offering spectacular views over the expansive Gulf of Naples on one side and the equally beautiful Gulf of Salerno on the other. The whole area is dotted with small towns and villages, all with thousands of years of history behind them. On arrival in Naples, one can’t help but notice the impressive architecture and grandiose monuments left over from 16th and 17th century Spanish rule. Next day, enjoy a walk around the mountain at the epicentre of Europes most famous volcanic eruption in 79AD - Mount Vesuvius.. Explore the outstanding archaeological site of Pompeii, getting a feel of Roman life 2000-years ago. Next up, San Lazzaro di Agerola and a walk down the medieval steps to the coast. Afterwards, spend time in Amalfi itself, wandering the historic streets and discovering hidden squares, or visiting the town’s many attractions, including the marvellous Duomo Sant'Andrea. Atrani is probably the best-preserved town on the Amalfi Coast, with narrow little streets and a serene town square - perhaps the perfect place for a drink before walking back along the shore to a well-earned meal. Later, take a path leading through the Valle Dei Mulini, passing several impressive ruins on the way, finally entering a nature reserve with lush vegetation and waterfalls – an ideal picnic spot. Next day, choose a boat tour to Salerno or a day trip to the famous Isle of Capri (a tourist hideaway for Roman emperors) or just relax on the beach. The tour concludes with one of Amalfi’s most wonderful walks following the winding path of Sentiero degli Dei (Footpath of the Gods) to Positano. Here, the unique scenery has unrivalled beauty and takes walkers through forests and fields of wildflowers, past ancient stone huts and across precipitous narrow ledges overlooking the sea. Finally, arrive in Positano, arguably the most attractive, and now most fashionable town on the Amalfi Coast, with brightly painted houses covered in bougainvillaea – a stunning finale to a beautiful journey.

The tour costs £925 p/adult and £670 p/child (6yrs to 12yrs) including hotel accommodation, most meals, transport, sightseeing and a Peregrine tour leader.
