EQUINE’S BIG WINE ADVENTURE…
RIDING AND WINE IN BORDEAUX

Oz Clark’s French road trip with James May at the wheel, as seen on BBC2, has now been upstaged… Travel by horseback instead, through the vineyards of Bordeaux, sampling the finest wines and savouring gourmet meals en route. Equine Adventures offer an 8-day riding holiday – with a special kick! Next departure from Bordeaux 31st March 2007. Other dates also available.

After a night in Bordeaux’s Hotel Bernt, transfer to Château Pomey and choose your mount - forward-going Selle Francais horses - for the start of a 6-day horseback adventure. This unique holiday enables riders to visit many of the Bordeaux region’s finest vineyards and picturesque villages, tasting fine wines and staying in comfortable hotels along the way. Soak up the alcoholic excesses with local speciality dishes served by gourmet chefs in each location. Ride through Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, visit the majestic Citadelle of Blaye and taste the fine Côte de Blaye wine. Continue through the Côte de Bourg, Bordeaux Superieur and Fronsac vineyards to the charming town of Libourne. Experience the region’s rich culture in the medieval town of Saint Emilion and explore the 13th century castle of Rauzan, before resting a while in the traditional village of Cadillac and partaking in a tipple of the Premieres Côtes de Bordeaux. After riding through the vineyards of Graves and Sauternes, spend the final night in the town of Sauternes itself.

The trip costs £995 p/p including transfers, accommodation, most meals, horses and tack and guided activities.
