THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHING INDIA’S TIGERS WITH NICK GARBUTT
NEW LODGE IN BANDHAVGARH

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India and the newly-opened Kings Lodge are the main focus for a specialist 8-day wildlife tour led by award-winning photographer Nick Garbutt, departing Heathrow 24th March 2007.

Aspiring photographers are coached by tour leader Nick Garbutt, who as well as being a renowned wildlife author, artist and lecturer, has won the prestigious Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Setting out from Delhi by first class sleeper train to Katni, travellers cover the final approach to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Kings Lodge by road. Situated amidst 450 square kilometres of mixed forest the park’s core area is fairly small but endowed with a rich though fragile ecology. A wide range of wildlife includes 275 bird species, Chital, Muntjac (Barking Deer), Wild Boar, Leopard, Dhole (Wild Dog) and of course Tiger. Indeed, Bandhavgarh was home to the India’s first-recorded white Tiger.
A team of experienced naturalists is on hand to give evening presentations on Indian wildlife, conservation and photography. Travellers benefit from Nick’s remarkable wealth of photographic knowledge, shared in the magnificent surroundings of Bandhavgarh. Daily, morning and afternoon game drives are made, allowing different photographic techniques to be employed based upon subject, prevailing light conditions and a multitude of natural variables. The newly opened lodge features four cottage rooms and eight stilt rooms with lofted wooden balconies - ideal for star gazing or sleeping out in the open. There is a well-stocked library, swimming pool and a watchtower.

The tour costs £1,895 p/p including international flights, transfers by rail and road, full board lodge accommodation, guided activities and National Park entry fees.
A donation of £50 to £100 is made to the Rhino conservation charity 'Horny@50' for each traveller booking this tour.
