Families Worldwide - Press Release

EASTER HIMALAYAN ACTION
NEPAL IN SPRING BLOOM

Take the family on a trip that will take you further, but bring you closer. Take mountain walks amongst beautiful Rhododendron blooms, meet a Sherpa who has summited Everest, take a jungle safari by jeep and elephant-back in Chitwan National Park and experience the thrill of white-water rafting. Families Worldwide offer an action-packed Easter holiday involving the whole family during their 12-day Himalayan Adventure. Departing 29th March 2007.

Kids can tell their friends they’ve trekked in the Himalayas, camped out overnight amongst the peaks, spent a day learning to climb and meet with a real Sherpa who has climbed Mt. Everest. What better way to introduce children to life in the Himalayas? The holiday explores atmospheric old Kathmandu and neighbouring mediaeval Bhaktapur, famous for pottery crafted amongst the temples and colourful backstreets. Here, children will see how the pottery is made, and make a pot for themselves to take home as a souvenir. Head west to Pokhara via the valley of the Trisuli River, where there’s an opportunity to try kayaking or white-water rafting. From Pokhara, the starting point for treks in the Annapurna ranges, armed with tents, chairs, tables, food, cooks, porters and Sherpas, embark on a ‘mini-trek’ through the foothills to a ridge-top camp at 2,000ft, for an overnight stay beneath the stars. The final part of the holiday focuses on the wildlife of Nepal’s lowland jungles. Families spend three nights in Royal Chitwan National Park where activities include an elephant-back ‘Rhino-watch’ safari, searching for sun-bathing crocodiles by dug-out canoe, plus a nature trail walk in woodlands and glades to seek out wildlife. Later, get ready for a good soaking whilst helping bathe Elephants after their day’s work – don’t forget to scrub behind those ears! The holiday concludes with a final night in Kathmandu and a delicious ‘last supper’.

The holiday costs from £1,149 p/adult (£949 p/child under 12 years) including flights, transfers, hotel, safari lodge and camp accommodation, wildlife activities, some meals and expert mountain and wildlife guiding
