BRING THE KIDS
SONGIMVELO HORSEBACK SAFARI
* FAMILY DEPARTURE*
Equine Adventures has added a special child-friendly departure of its popular 10-day wilderness horseback safari in South Africa’s breathtaking Songimvelo Game Reserve. Children are not normally allowed, so this is a real coup for Equine Adventures and special treat for horsey parents and their offspring! Departing London 4th August 2007.
After a transfer by light aircraft to Nelspruit Airport and overnight at Dawsons Lodge, families head for the incredible surroundings of Songimvelo Game Reserve for five days of riding within one of southern Africa's finest reserves. With its magnificent mountains and game-filled plains, riders encounter indigenous animals such as Elephant, Buffalo, White Rhino, Giraffe and a variety of antelope species. During the safari, families will be based at Wind Hoek Base Camp where a support team is on hand to take care of everyone’s needs. Large walk-in safari tents are home for the next few nights and kids will be queuing up to experience the novelty of a bucket shower after a day in the saddle. Candle-lit dinners are enjoyed under the African stars or within the spacious mess tent. One night is spent higher up in the mountains, sleeping out under the stars. A packhorse is used to carry food and equipment for this adventurous night in the bush. Rides generally start early, after a tasty breakfast, and cover a variety of terrain, stopping to picnic by one of the well-populated hippo pools. On the final day, ride into Ebustsini Village, game viewing along the way, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in a traditional rondavel, followed by a memorable evening featuring local entertainment and superb Swazi cuisine.
The holiday costs £2,545 p/p including scheduled flights, transfers, accommodation, meals, horse, tack and expert guiding. Children must be over 12 years of age and competent in the saddle.
