Press Digest 26th March 2007

Good Morning All,

How de body?

Sierra Leone was fascinating and I'll write more of it anon. Currently I haven't packed (or unpacked) and should just be typing 'Hi' and then 'Bye' as an early flight from Gatport Airwick beckons. I already know that my hotel tonight has all the character of a gas platform's accommodation rig but sadly lacks its sophistication. Gassy beer in cans, chilled pies and sandwiches in plastic wrapping, plywood interior fittings painted brutally in exterior wood stain.

Anyhow, I leave you with this thought. Costa Rica author, Larissa Banting, arrives in the UK this weekend and must be the only one of Bradt's author's to have posed au naturel as Miss February in her naked pursuit of publicity! To contact her about becoming Miss or Mr April (!), to discuss the guidebook, the imminent Costa Rican residency of Mel Gibson or any other aspect of her Central American speciality subject please call Bradt's office on 01753 893 444 and speak to Felicity Stanbridge, just tell her you want to get naked!

This week's website has to be dedicated to Larissa - www.sasycostarica.com

Normal service from next Friday.

Have a good week.

best,

Nick

Bradt Travel Guides
Helsinki

Cost £7.99

Bradt’s first edition Helsinki city guide suggests that no visit to Finland’s newly chic capital is complete without the ‘highlight’ of a traditional wood-fired sauna. ‘Just leave your inhibitions at home; the unshockable washerwoman has seen it all before… being gently ‘whipped’ with a softened birch branch is a highly pleasurable experience… Enjoy!’ suggests author Nigel Wallis. The guide continues in similar vein, inviting readers to cast off their layered misconceptions of expense combined with chilly gloom and take a fresh look at Helsinki, the latest European capital to check-in for the low-cost flight revolution.

Wildlife Worldwide
IS BROWN THE NEW GREEN?
POLAR BEARS WON’T THINK SO!

Cost £3,750

As Gordon Brown pays lip service to ‘green issues’ in his 2007 budget by cranking up the road tax on gas-guzzling 4x4s and scrapping stamp duty on new carbon neutral homes, many will say he hasn’t gone far enough. With the effects of global warming already having an impact on Canada’s Polar Bear population, Wildlife Worldwide’s 8-day holidays offer some of the best opportunities to view Polar Bears in their threatened icy hunting grounds of the Canadian Arctic.
