COLOMBIA & VENEZUELA
Definitely not your everyday journey, Colombia is an enduringly remarkable place to visit – from its perfect beaches washed by the Caribbean, to ancient civilisations and awe-inspiring scenery. Dragoman Overland’s 22-night journey combines all of this with the wetlands (for whopping anacondas!) and the highlands (for adrenaline junkies) of Venezuela. Anyone can ‘do’ Peru, but real travellers head up this end of the continent! Dragoman Overland’s Salsa & The Spanish Main tour departing Quito 7th June, now comes with a 15% discount.
Colombia is not a tourist country, but nevertheless it’s a great place to travel. The security situation means some areas are off limits but there’s still loads to see. Cartagena is the biggest draw, a stunningly beautiful colonial city overlooking the equally stunning Caribbean. Ok, so Bogota may not be your first idea of a holiday city, but when you’re sitting in the lovely Villa de Leiva Plaza sipping beer, surrounded by the city’s gorgeous population (they really are a good looking bunch in Bogota!), it’s hard to imagine anything quite so perfect. Venezuela has a few more visitors and of course its beaches are well known. But Dragoman comes for the Andes, for the adrenaline sports of Merida and the whopping great Anacondas slithering through the waters of Los Lanos pantanal!
The tour SVQ47 now costs £718 p/p (normally £845) plus kitty USD$430 (~£218) including transport in Dragoman Overland’s customised Mercedes Benz truck, hotel and camping accommodation (75%/25%), all camp meals, the internal flights in Colombia, the expertise of Dragoman’s two person crew (1 crew accompanies the group in Colombia, the other transits the Dragoman vehicle) and local guides en route.
