Wildlife Worldwide - Press Release

JUMP IN THE CAR AND GO GO…
LIMPOPO SELF-DRIVE

Explore South Africa's lesser-known game reserves - Marataba Mashatu and Pafuri in the Limpopo Province, for spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities, stunning scenery and with the added advantage of your own vehicle. Wildlife Worldwide combine safari with self-drive during their 11-day Secrets of Limpopo tour, with daily London departures from 16th April to 15th September 2007.

Following flights and hire car collection, travellers make their way to Limpopo Province and the foothills of the Waterberg Mountains. Here, spend 2-nights at Marataba, situated amongst 23,000 hectares of Marakele National Park, where game drives in open Land Rovers offer guests the thrill of close encounters with Africa’s ‘Big Five’. Other wildlife here includes Roan Antelope, Sable and Mountain Reedbuck, over 400-species of bird and the world’s largest breeding colony of endangered Cape Vulture. Next up is Pont Drift, where hire cars are left, prior to crossing the Botswana border and transferring to Mashatu Game Reserve, home to Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Giraffe and Ostrich, to name a few. In addition to game drives, guests can enjoy the area on foot, horse-back or even mountain bike – all with expert guiding. Accommodation is in Mashatu Tented Camp, an idyllic retreat nestled in the remote northern area of the reserve. From the verdant game-filled bush of Mashatu, return to Pont Drift to collect your hire car then head to Pafuri in the northern sector of Kruger National Park, for a 3-night stay at the Makuleke Pafuri Camp, overlooking the Luvuvhu River. Enjoy stunning views with possible wildlife sightings from your veranda, day and night game drives and walking safaris amongst the most diverse and scenically attractive region of the Kruger. One of the most important aspects of this area is its palaeo-anthropological history, with its plethora of early human evidence stretching back some 2-million years, in the form of rock paintings and artefacts.

The tour costs from £2,750 p/p including scheduled flights (SA), transfers, safari lodge accommodation, most meals, car hire and expertly guided activities.
