HIGHLIGHTS OF SWITZERLAND RAIL TOUR
PLUS ZÜRI FÄSCHT 2-DAY FESTIVAL
ONLY £795 P/P!!
Every three years Zürich opens it’s city gates to host Züri Fäscht, Switzerlands largest public festival. To coincide with the 2007 celebrations, tailor-made alpine specialist Lakes & Mountains Holidays offer a 4-star 9-night holiday combining the festival with a rail tour which includes the highlights of the Bernese Oberland and Lucerne regions - all for only £795 p/p! Departs London 2nd July 2007.
After rail transfer from Zürich, guests spend 2-nights in Interlaken situated in the spectacular Bernese Oberland. Here, take an excursion to the Jungfraujoch, which at an elevation of 3,454 metres is the highest railway station in Europe. From Interlaken, take the Brunig Panoramic Express to Lucerne, skirting the stunning Lake Brienz, passing through stunning mountain scenery via Brunig pass and dropping into Sarner Aa valley. An overnight stay in Lucerne allows travellers to explore one of Europe’s most charming cities at a leisurely pace, visiting historic landmarks such as Kapellbrücke, the recently restored 14th Century wooden bridge. Next day, a boat from Lucerne across Lake Lucerne takes guests to Alpnachstad before boarding the world’s steepest cogwheel railway to reach Mt. Pilatus (2,119m), the alleged burial place of Pontius Pilate. Descent is by panoramic gondola – relax, there’s no mountain climbing on this trip! Back to Zürich for the finale of this tour - Switzerland’s largest festival, Züri Fäscht, held once every three years. For 2-days beginning 6th July, the city is transformed into one enormous showground with acrobatic shows, open-air concerts, free-fall tower, a gigantic Ferris wheel and topped off by a lavish fireworks display accompanied by music – who says the Swiss can’t party?
The holiday costs £795 p/p including scheduled flights from London, transfers, 9-nights 4* B&B accommodation, rail journeys and excursions listed in the itinerary.
