NEW Family Safari, learn a language, help a school and ‘pick-a-poo’… IN ZAMBIA
On Families Worldwide’s exciting new Zambia trip, kids get to experience the real Africa, including spotting big game in South Luangwa National Park, learning bush skills and local crafts, and making new friends during a visit to Yosefe School, and even learn something of Nyanja - the local language! It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore one of Africa’s most intriguing countries, whilst at the same time helping its children – for every booking made, Families Worldwide will make a donation to Yosefe School in the Luangwa Valley. 10-day holidays depart London from July 2007 onwards and are available on a group or tailor-made basis.
This special new itinerary is based around South Luangwa National Park, one of the finest nature reserves in Africa. Next to the park are two other special places, Kapani Lodge and Yosefe School. The school is a terrific success story. This is a poor area with no electricity, yet the school, under its dynamic headmaster and with support from Families Worldwide and the rest of the Worldwide group, is thriving. During the holiday, families will get to visit the school and children can join in lessons and practice Nyanga, the local language. Guests are based at Kapani Lodge, delightfully situated on a quiet lagoon beside the Luangwa River, where they can relax after their travels, with a refreshing dip in the pool. Activities here include nature walks and a ‘pick-a-poo’ safari – kids will soon be identifying all sorts of wildlife just by their droppings! All can be recorded for posterity in a special children’s activity pack that features bird and mammal checklists, quizzes, the biggest sausage competition and much more! South Luangwa is incredibly rich in wildlife, expect to encounter numerous large mammals including Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo and Leopard (the park is home to Africa’s highest naturally occurring Leopard population), during morning and evening game drives. Other activities include a traditional Zambian meal (eating with hands), a visit to a local bush camp, learning local crafts such as pot making, basket weaving and wood carving, with plenty of time to interact with the local kids.
The holiday costs from £2,499 per adult, £1,999 per child (7-11 years) including scheduled flights (BA), internal flights, all transfers, first class accommodation at Kapani Lodge, all meals and expertly guided wildlife activities. Plus a Local Payment of $150 (~£100).
