Good Afternoon,
Beautiful days in Northumberland. Fresh greens, bright blues, warm sun and occasionally enough breeze to stir thoughts of renewable energy... Tynedale Council not withstanding. The reality is that to install solar panels on my roof and erect a 12ft wind turbine in the field, a wide and unfamiliar ocean of bureaucratic treacle needs to be navigated, an endeavour that probably will lead to entrapment and crushing by the the ungenerous hard toffee of planning refusal.
Observation suggests that if my endeavours to save the planet were rather more ambitious, consisting say of 15 to 20 (or more!) 125 metre-high state-of-the-art megawatt turbines, built and paid for by Big Wind Inc and netting me around £9k each a year in rental, then the results would be different. Doubles and trebles all round for landowners and big business...
