BAG AFRICA’S HIGHEST PEAK RETIRED PEREGRINE LEADER WILSON MOSHA DID IT 500 TIMES!!! NEXT DEPARTURE FROM NAIROBI 1st JULY
‘Bagging a peak’ is certainly no mean feat but summiting Mt Kilimanjaro (5895 meters or 19,340 feet) over 500 times is simply extraordinary! It’s all in a day’s work for one retired Peregrine Adventures’ guide, Wilson Mosha. Four current Peregrine leaders are already hot on his heels with over 300 summits of Kilimanjaro already under their belts! Those keen to ‘bag’ Africa’s highest peak will certainly be in experienced hands if they join Peregrine Adventures on a 9-day ascent of Kilimanjaro, via the wilder Rongai Route. Available departures from Nairobi commence from 1st July throughout the summer.
Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa, lying close to the equator yet with snow, ice and glaciers to be found on its highest slopes. Soaring to the impressive altitude of 5895 metres (19350 feet), it provides incredible views of hundreds of square kilometres of surrounding countryside, and surrounding mountain peaks, valleys and glaciers. The walk to the summit begins in attractive farm land and delightful forest and passes through a number of distinctly different climatic and vegetation zones, from beautiful rainforest, alpine moorland, volcanic desert, to glaciers, ice and snow, adding interest to the trek. The Rongai Route is a day longer than the standard trail, providing important additional time for acclimatisation and therefore the best possible chance of making it to the summit. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro, by approaching it from the north.
The tour costs £1,375 p/p including arrival transfer, camping and hotel accommodation, services of porters/cooks during climb, entrance fees, trek equipment and expert mountain guiding.
