SOUTH AMERICA SUMMER DEALS
MOUNTAIN, BEACH AND INCA’S

Cross the continent from the windswept, snow-capped Andes to the beaches of Rio and get far out into the wilderness to discover Inca ruins, dazzling salt flats and of flamingo-filled lagoons. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or a beach lover you'll find it during Dragoman Overland’s 5½-week Wilds of the Altiplano & Pantanal journey, departing Rio de Janeiro 18th July and 22nd August or v/v from Cusco 10th July 2007.

The overland begins beneath Sugar Loaf Mountain, ‘Pao de Azucar’, in Rio de Janeiro, where Guanabara Bay, and the sandy beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, mark Rio one of the world’s most beautiful harbour cities. Next, head south to the ‘Costa Verde’ where small communities and hundreds of tiny islands are dotted along the coast. Head, to the small town of Bonito and take a dip in crystal-clear rivers and springs before a 3-day journey through the Pantanal - Central Brazil’s unique vast wetlands. There is probably nowhere else in South America offering such a rich indigenous wildlife. Take a mile long walk along the edge of Iguazu Falls from the Three Sisters to Devil’s Throat - visiting the falls from both the Argentinean and the Brazilian sides. Cross Argentina’s Chaco Desert and continue to Uyuni in Bolivia where travellers can take a jeep trip to Bolivia's largest salt pan, the Salar de Uyuni - a 12,000-square km blinding white lake of interlocking salt crystals. Next up, try out the flower market in La Paz, Bolivia’s fascinating capital city, overshadowed by the snow-capped peak of Mount Illimani. Here, visit the artisan’s market or bizarre and macabre witches’ market to stock up on a plethora of handy herbal remedies and charms - such as llama foetuses to ward off road accidents on winding Andean roads! Whatever your interest, there ‘ain’t no mountain high enough or ancient ruin remote enough’ before journey’s end in the ancient Inca capital of Cusco!

The tour costs from £940p/p (18th July - was £1,175p/p – saving £235) plus kitty USD$1,010 (~£515) including transport aboard Dragoman Overland’s customised Mercedes Benz truck, hotel, camping and wildcamp accommodation (60%/40%), all camp meals and the expertise of Dragoman Overland’s two person crew.
International flights are not included but are available through Dragoman Overland.
