TROPICALLY ACTIVE!
COSTA RICA
If sitting on a beach all day isn’t your thing then Trips Worldwide has a solution - trek through million-year-old rainforests, climb volcanoes, raft wild rivers and walk amongst myriad spectacular wildlife – an active holiday definitely not for the sun-lounger brigade! Trips Worldwide’s 14-night Active Costa Rica holiday departs from London daily throughout 2007.
On arrival in Costa Rica a private transfer takes guests to Hotel Grano de Oro in San José, a sanctuary in the heart of the bustling capital. Next day, take a tour of Poás Volcano National Park and La Paz Waterfall Gardens situated in Braulio Carrillo rain forest. This active volcano has the world’s second largest crater at 1,320 meters in diameter and 300 meters deep. Return to the hotel – a former tropical Victorian mansion, to enjoy a relaxing Jacuzzi and a good night’s sleep in preparation for the activities ahead. The next two days are spent rafting the Pacuare River, one night spent at Pacuare Lodge before finishing in Siquirres next day. Head to Sarapiqui for mountain biking and an overnight stay at La Quinta de Sarapiquí Country Inn. Next up, Arenal Springs Resort, and a hike amongst the pristine rainforest of Arenal Volcano National Park, teeming with tropical birds and wildlife. Here, the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica’s most active, may offer spectacular pyroclastic displays. Continue to Ecotermales Hot Springs, then take a spectacular Sky Trek over the rainforest canopy. After breakfast, cross majestic Arenal Lake, for 2-nights at Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge and a horseback tour. The next 4-nights are based at the Hotel Playa Espadilla, Manuel Antonio. Manuel Antonio National Park has opportunities for kayaking, snorkeling or just relaxing on the beach watching parrots fly overhead as monkeys swing from tree to tree! Return to Hotel Grano de Oro in San José for final night before the flight home.
The holiday costs from £2,389 p/p (June and September) including flights from Heathrow (BA) via Miami, transfers, full board and B&B hotel and lodge accommodation, private tour to Poás Volcano National Park & La Paz Waterfall Gardens (lunch included), Pacuare River Rafting, mountain biking in Sarapiquí, Sky Adventures in Arenal (Zipline tour & Sky Tram), private tour to Arenal Volcano National Park and Ecotermales Hot Springs (dinner included), horseback riding, kayaking and snorkeling in Manuel Antonio.
