NEW TOUR GET IN FOCUS FOR ZAMBIA’S FINEST PHOTOGENIC LUANGWA
For wonderful wildlife photographic opportunities look no further – Kaingo Camp in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park offers four superbly positioned hides from which to focus. A renowned choice for wildlife enthusiasts and professionals alike, Kaingo has been host to BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and world-famous wildlife photographer Frans Lanting, all of whom have filmed or photographed from the unique hides. Wildlife Worldwide’s new 9-day Photogenic Luangwa tour, based at Kaingo and its satellite camp Mwamba, departs Heathrow 15th July to 31st October 2007.
After arrival at Mfuwe, guests spend three nights at the relaxed Kaingo Camp, deep within the prime area of the South Luangwa National Park - comprising some 9,050 square kilometres of unspoilt African wilderness. A special feature of Kaingo is the unique wooden deck built out over the river. From this relaxing vantage point just below the central dining area, guests can observe basking hippo, aquatic bird life, crocodiles fishing and daily Elephant crossings. Game-drives and walks from Kaingo provide exciting photographic opportunities - from hides constructed with photography in mind, guaranteed to get guests close to the wildlife - in complete safety! The varied terrain around camp includes the picturesque Fish Eagle lagoon, one of the largest ebony forests in the Park, and the spectacular Lion Plain (the biggest plain in the valley - a hugely productive grassland that teems with wildlife) bordered by the meandering Luangwa and Mwmaba Rivers. The area is ideal walking country - under the watchful escort of an armed scout and guide. Transfer either on foot or by road to Mwamba Bush Camp, set on the banks of the Mwamba River, a tributary of the Luangwa. The camp, sited under huge evergreen ebony trees, enjoys shady views of perennial waterholes, both of which have hides perched over them for fantastic photographic opportunities. Bats and owls (Pearl spotted and Scops in particular) provide nightly background sounds, together with whirring cicadas. On to Kapani Lodge, for a night situated on a quiet lagoon beside the Luangwa River. Here, guests can take further advantage of Luangwa Valley’s rich wildlife population including Africa’s highest naturally occuring Leopard population during walking safaris, daytime game drives and a night drive with spotlights. Of 60 other resident mammal species recorded in the valley, Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo, Cookson’s Wildebeest and Nile Crocodile feature high on the list together with an exciting array of over 420 bird species. The holiday concludes with a return to Mfuwe followed by light aircraft transfer to Lusaka for homeward international flights.
The holiday costs from £2,785 p/p (1st –31st October) including scheduled international (BA) and regional flights, transfers, airport taxes, safari lodge and bush-camp accommodation with most meals and drinks, expertly guided game viewing and all National Park entry fees.
